The Birth Parent Consent Program does not replace the traditional Adoption Information Registry and differs from the traditional Adoption Information Registry in two important ways. Please note that the adoptee must still be born or adopted in New York State to participate in the Birth Parent Consent Program.
If you are registering as the Adoptee or as a Biological Sibling of an Adoptee, you must include a photocopy of your current birth certificate including parents' names.
Adoptees born in New York City who do not have a copy of their amended birth certificate should order one directly from New York City.
Since the beginning of the twentieth century, Child and Family Services of Michigan, Inc., State Office has been the repository for individual records that document adoptions performed by member agencies.
In accordance with the Michigan Adoption Code, State Office staff responds to requests for identifying and non-identifying information from adult adoptees and former family members.
There is no fee to register with the Adoption Registry.
However, some adoption agencies charge up to to provide non-identifying information to the Adoption Registry. Some adoption agencies will provide non-identifying information directly to an adoptee.

This is also known as “clean” adoption reform, which is in accordance with widely accepted best practices in adoption.
As an umbrella organization, the AAC will also support efforts to gain access to all adoption agency and court records if planned within legislation or government actions.
